Nagula Chavithi 2011


Nagula Chavithi is an auspicious day to observe Naga Puja. Nagula Chavithi is observed on the fourth day after Deepavali Amavasya during Karthika masam. Nag Panchami and Nagasashti are observed after Naga Chaturthi.
Nagula Chavithi, a festival to worship Nag Devatas, is mainly a women festival. Nagula Chavithi is observed by married women for their wellbeing of their children. During the Chavithi festival, women keep fast and observe Naga Puja. Devotees offer milk and dry fruits to Sarpa Devata at the Valmeekam or Putta. On Nag Chaturthi day, Ashtanag (seven hooded cobra) is worshipped.
Nagula Chavithi in Kartika masam is a major festival in Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Karnataka. The rituals and puja procedures are different from place to place. Some people place Naga devatha idol at home and perform puja. But in some places, devotees go to 'Putta' (Snake pit) and offer naivedyam and perform other pujas there
The popular legend associated with Nagula Chavithi in Telugu Hindu culture suggests that on the day Lord Shiva drank the poison Halahala or Kalkuta to save the universe during the famous incident of Samudra Manthan.

shri krishna janmashtami


Janmashtami also known as Gokulashtami marks the anniversary of the birth of Lord Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna was born in the 'Rohini' nakshatram (star) to King Devaki Devi and Vasudeva on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Sravana. This festival is also known as Sri Krishna Jayanti(birthday) and Krishnashtmi. The actual day of anniversary can be on two different days as the star 'Rohini' and Ashtami may not be on the same day. These days approached to the August and September months on the Gregorian calendar.

Sri Krishna is advised as the eighth avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu's, (one of three major Hindu Gods) on earth. He is advised to be the Lord's most glorious incarnations. It is said that his remembrance true heart brings extreme joy and pleasure because Sri Krishna himself was a manifestation of joy at all levels and in all walks of life. No other God in the Hindu pantheon, or for that matter in any other religion, is accomplices with so many romantic tales and so fully radiating with all the divine attributes as Sri Krishna.

Independence Day of India


Independence Day of India is celebrated on 15th of August to commemorate its overeignty from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation in 1947. The day is a national holiday in India. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attital city of India, where the Prime Minister hoists the national flaendance. The main event takes place in New Delhi, the capg at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech frements of his government during the past year, raises important issueom its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievs and gives a call for further development. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle.
